Read about food

A collection of authentic recipes submitted by former Bukoviners and descendants of Bukoviners. Compiled and edited by Merle Kastner, 2010.

First published in 1909, this is a detailed, illustrated recipe book containing two works: Chocolate and Cocoa Recipes by Maria Parloa, and Home Made Candy Recipes by Janet McKenzie Hill. Janet McKenzie Hill (1852-1933) was an American author, she introduced the baked bean sandwich as a "substitute for meatless cooking".

Amish cooking has become ingrained into traditional American cooking. Chances are, growing up your grandmother or your mother prepared a dish or two that was based on a traditional Amish recipe and you didn’t even know it. You just knew that you found it delicious.
